Sir,

I read with interest the recently published article by Chatterjee and colleagues[1]. I have the following points to make:

  1. The authors have calculated sample size and stated that “484 cases would be required to detect an odds ratio of 1.50 with 80 per cent power at five per cent significance level”. We observed from the Table that they ended up with only 378 cases. This was a serious deviation from the protocol.
  2. Reference 30 cited by the authors in their article[2] has already been retracted by the journal. A retracted article should not have been cited.

Conflicts of Interest: None.
